Which carpet to choose for the office and which for the bedroom?

Rugs have an important role in interior design. They can create a friendly atmosphere in a room or increase its functionality and aesthetics. While the choice of a rug for the bedroom should not be a problem, the carpet for the office can be a bit of a problem. The ideal office floor covering should not only match the overall interior design, but above all should be durable, resistant to dirt and easy to care for. How to choose a carpet for the office? Which bedroom carpet would be the most appropriate? About it below.

What to pay attention to when choosing carpet for the office?

The arrangement of office spaces, just like the design of private apartments, requires attention to every detail. It must be aesthetically pleasing and friendly to visitors, contractors and employees of the company. Why is it worth to use carpets in the office? There are many reasons. Office carpet floorings warms the room and allows you to muffle some of the sounds. In the case of an office where many people work or we deal with the open space is an extremely important issue. Everyone will be more comfortable working if they are not distracted by the noise of sliding chairs or the clatter of heels. In addition, carpets are very practical, because they make it easier to keep the floor clean. When choosing a carpet for the office, it's worth paying attention to the material from which it was made. Although we can choose acrylic floor coverings, artificial fiber coverings, e.g. polyamide and polypropylene, will be a much better solution. They show high resistance to mechanical damage. They are resilient, and thus they don't deform or bend. In addition, they are easy to vacuum and keep clean. An interesting proposition are the SUPERSTAR commercial floor coverings, available in a wide range of colours.

The weight of the carpet for the office

Another important issue is the choice of basis weight - you should pay attention to it depending on the intensity of use of a given room. If the place is frequently used by employees or customers of the company, you should consider higher grammage of the carpet. The basis weight has a direct impact on the quality of the floor covering and the comfort of its use. It can range from 380 g/sq m to 2,500 g/sq m. Recommended weight for offices is 600-750 g/sqm.

Type of fleece

For offices, low-pile carpets are the best choice, as they are easier to clean, both dry and wet. It's also worth choosing thick floor coverings, because they dampen noise better and have a greater level of thermal insulation. In offices with high traffic, especially on stairs and corridors, needle floor coverings, which are extremely strong, are the best choice. A suitable proposition for offices are also loop pile carpets, resembling loops of various heights. Their bristles are quite resistant to the penetration of dirt into the fleece, and at the same time, this type of floor coverings give the rooms a warm and cozy atmosphere.

Carpet or carpet tiles?

Both solutions are very popular and have their supporters. A carpet cut from a roll creates a uniform base on which virtually no seams are visible. Unfortunately, if you want to replace such a carpet with a new one, you need to plan a major renovation, excluding the room from temporary use. The tiled floor coverings are very similar to the rolls. They are only divided into separate tiles and work like puzzles, thanks to which it is easier to replace them at any time with new ones, e.g. if one of them is damaged. Carpet tiles have another advantage. Thanks to them, you can create your own composition - choosing the right patterns and colors. In this way, you can have a designer carpet that is unlike any other.

What kind of carpet should I choose for my bedroom?

The carpet in the bedroom plays an important role. Properly selected adds flavour to the arrangement, and at the same time warms the interior and increases its comfort. Thanks to it, standing with your bare feet on the floor will be simply more pleasant. Carpet can make your bedroom cozier, especially if you choose a model in pleasant, warm tones. It's worth adding here that the carpet allows for good soundproofing of the room and allows you to hide any defects in the worn floor, so you don't need to do a major renovation at home.

Which material will be suitable?

Bedroom coverings can be made of natural fibers such as wool. They are soft and pleasant to the touch, while keeping heat well and effectively calming down. Unfortunately, they can cause allergies and therefore are not recommended for allergy sufferers. Carpets made of artificial fibers will also work well in the bedroom. The modern ones are made of high-quality materials - polyester, polyamide or polypropylene. All of them are durable, resistant to damage and easy to care for. Additionally, polyamide doesn't absorb moisture and is non-flammable. On the other hand, polypropylene shows exceptional resistance to water, and therefore the linings made of it can also be successfully wet cleaned.

What grammage of the carpet for the bedroom?

Obviously, the higher the grammage, the greater the strength of the liner itself. However, taking into account the fact that the bedroom is not a room with too much traffic, unlike, for example, a hall or a living room, a carpet with a weight of 380-450 g / sq m will work well in it. If someone is thinking about a carpet for a child's room, then a better solution will be one with a weight of 450-700 g / sq m.

What kind of weave?

The type of weaves also have a significant impact on the functionality of the floor covering. The most popular of them are needle-punched weave, scroll, loop and shaggy. For those who, above all, value comfort and like to walk on a soft surface, a shaggy carpet will be the perfect choice - extremely visually attractive, and at the same time soft and pleasant to the touch.

What is the backside of the carpet?

Few people, when buying a floor covering, pay attention to its backside. Meanwhile, the comfort of using the carpet will largely depend on it. Jute and felt soles are the most universal. The felt backing is distinguished by high resistance to moisture and temperature changes. In addition, it provides additional floor insulation and is perfect for any type of substrate. If the bedroom has underfloor heating, then it's worth choosing a carpet with a jute bottom. An interesting proposition of a lining with a felt layer on the underside.
